Abstract

This article discusses the relation of ethics to politics in the thought of the Italian philosopher, theologian and sociologist, the rev. Luigi Sturzo. Sturzo tried to clarify anew such basic concepts as politics, homeland, democracy, the common good, justice, social love, and justice, in order to unite the practice of politics and of morality. For Sturzo, policy is simply “an act of love,” it is “the duty to love the other,” because love is not spoken words, but action in the truth, which implies equality, as well as respect, tolerance, and sacrifice for others.
