Special issue: Ontology and History

Information note
Date of online publication: 10 novembre 2015

1We would like to announce the special issue of Forum Philosophicum, to be published in Spring 2016. This issue will present selected philosophical papers from the conference “Ontology and History: A Challenging and Auspicious Dialogue for Philosophy and Theology.” This is how the conference organizers present their project:

2Within philosophical and theological discourse the relationship between ontology and history is a perennial concern. Is history the realm of mere appearances, a lesser realm that at best points to the immutable? Or, is all reality in flux and the only certainty we are confronted with is death? Is it ever possible to speak of the continuity of being? The way in which such questions have been answered shapes the way we perceive what it means to be human, how one should live, how we should structure society, and even the nature of God. With this in mind, in 2015 we (Sotiris Mitralexis and Andrew TJ Kaethler) organized a conference in Delphi, Greece which was titled Ontology and History: A Challenging and Auspicious Dialogue for Philosophy and Theology. The forthcoming issue will contain several of the papers that came out of the conference, specifically those that were more philosophical rather than theological in nature.
