TY - JOUR AB - The article is a polemic against the theses contained in Stanisław Ziemiański’s paper, Is There One or Many Souls?, according to which the discoveries of modern embryology confirm the old traducianist doctrine that a unique soul is transmitted from generation to generation in the processes of biological reproduction. In Koszteyn’s opinion, Ziemiański’s statement about rational parents’ ability to produce the soul of their children is questionable in several ways. According to her, it does not follow from the biological evidence, has no place in the Aristotelian system of concepts and, above all, does not fit with the idea of a personal human intellectual soul. If traducianism is correct, then the human soul is just one, and the concept of a human “person” therefore void.
